maps and how to get here

Corolla is about 285 miles from Washington, DC.  About a 4 1/2 to 5 hour drive depending on traffic.  Be careful as you get to the Outerbanks especially Duck, Rt. 12 has a few 25 mph zones that the local police love to ticket a car full of yankees.

Directions to Corolla & The Whalehead Club:

From the north:

From the Norfolk area take Rt. 168 from Chesapeake. Rt. 168 merges and becomes Rt. 158. Stay on 158 until you cross over the Wright Memorial Bridge. Take Rt. 12 North. Stay on Rt. 12 until you enter the Corolla area. The Whalehead Club will be on your left, look for the lighthouse. (Don't worry if you miss the Club, you will run out of paved road within about a mile).

From Raleigh-Durham:

Take Rt. 64 east. Once on the island take Rt. 158 north (the by-pass).

Take Rt. 12 North. Stay on Rt. 12 until you enter the Corolla area. The Whalehead Club will be on your left, look for the lighthouse. (Don't worry if you miss the Club, you will run out of paved road within about a mile).

Flying:

The nearest airport is Norfolk, International (ORF), about 90 miles from Corolla.  Those flying can rent a car in Norfolk or give this outfit a try,

Sea Air.  The airstrip they fly to is a couple miles down the road from the wedding.  I don't know anything about these guys but what's on the website.

Below is the general map of the location.  We're hoping that most people will be able to stay in the area, walking distance from the wedding, parties, etc.
